Our chapter actively
sponsors many events and competitions to recognize our local students and
leaders for their contributions to our community. Please contact us for
more information on the contests described below and other chapter community
programs.
DAR Good Citizens Award
Our chapter honors 10-15 Good Citizens Award winners every year. First, second, and third place prizes are presented to three high school seniors, nominated by their schools, who demonstrate those qualities of citizenship so highly valued by the DAR: Dependability, Service, Leadership, and Patriotism.
The DAR ROTC Medal
LeRay de Chaumont Chapter is proud to participate in the ROTC Medal program. In May of each year, we award the DAR Bronze Medal to a junior or senior chosen by the Commander of the Carthage Central High School JROTC Unit. To qualify for this award, the cadet must demonstrate loyalty and patriotism; be ranked among the top 25% of their class in military science as well as academic subjects; and reveal good character, dependability, adherence to military discipline, and leadership.
